More recently, we have demonstrated a strong commitment to our education portfolio, as evidenced in the project work undertaken during the Building Education Revolution (BER) and Year 7 Transition to Secondary schemes.

As a sideline to project work, Macksey Rush Architects is also strongly committed to investing in practice research and development, quality assurance, and environmental and sustainability awareness.

People

We are a diversely experienced practice with a nominal 6 professional staff. The practice size enables the directors to provide each client with a personalised service, tailored to meet individual needs. Both directors are deeply involved throughout the design, documentation and construction process.

The practice is dedicated to mentoring our younger professionals and recognises the value of effective teamwork. It is of great value to both our project delivery and practice development to be able to encourage our younger members to evolve in a supportive environment. This in hand enables our practice to continually review and reinvigorate itself.

Macksey Rush Architects values the contribution and support it receives from its industry leading consultants and recognises the value that design collaboration can add throughout the design and delivery of an architectural solution.

Tony Macksey

Dip Arch ARAIA
Director

Tony Macksey is a founding director of Macksey Rush Architects Pty. Ltd, which was formed in 1981 with business partner Bernard Rush. Tony has been practising architecture for more than 30 years. His breadth of knowledge is reflected by his vast project portfolio, with projects ranging from educational and health related building typologies to civic, commercial, community, residential and recreational projects. Specialising in education, more recently, has required Tony to demonstrate a high level of competence in dealing with architectural complexities and innovative design. This is paramount in projects such as Waterford Place, which required retrofitting an existing listed office building on a restricted site to comprise a lecture theatre, multipurpose sports hall, and complete educational facilities for a school year group located remotely to the main campus.

In line with Macksey Rush Architect’s practice policy, Tony is closely involved in the design and documentation of all projects under his control. He adopts a hands-on approach, which provides a high level of personal contact and professional service to both clients and builders. This methodological approach enables Tony to invest in a design aesthetic which concentrates on providing a high attention to detail and the delivery of a product fit to the clients’ brief.
