Chapel Relocation & Restoration

The St Thomas More College Chapel was a project 8 years in the making. The vision for a Chapel on the school grounds, serving the school community was outlined in the College Masterplan, which was also completed by Macksey Rush Architects.

The Chapel, originally a Catholic Church from North Cooranga, was purchased by the College in 2017 and relocated. Throughout the design process, Macksey Rush remained sensitive to its heritage and the significance it once held to a small community. We endeavoured to retain the story of the Chapel and many of the original design features. This included a small portion of the original paintwork from the 1930’s left intact inside. Today, the Chapel sits proudly at the Centre of the College. It is once again a keystone building for the school and catholic community.
