St Laurence’s College South Brisbane
The design for the refurbishment of this space addresses issues identified in observations of the existing facility and is aligned to project objectives for a functional, safe, and appealing environment that promotes positive student behaviour and supports the wellbeing of all users.
Key issues such as restricted supervision, and poor natural ventilation and daylighting are addressed through a design solution that promotes greater visibility, better air quality, and increased comfort. To ensure passive supervision across the entire facility, the layout is carefully arranged to provide unobstructed sightlines for staff, enhancing student safety.
To improve functionality, underutilised urinals are removed, allowing for the addition of more individual facilities. This increases capacity and improves hygiene while addressing inefficiencies in the previous layout. The design aims to create a calm and inviting space through use of harmonious and durable materials and finishes.
